As a community, the Oxford Renters Union is committed to keeping the information our members and supporters share with us safe and secure in line with the Data Protection Act (1998) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Our data privacy promise
We will always do our very best to keep your data safe and secure. We will never share your data with any third party without your consent.
How we use your data
We collect data such as contact details, address and so on so that we can stay in touch with our members and supporters and let them know about the activities of the union and how to get involved.
We collect very basic information about the housing situation of our members (e.g. type of tenancy, name of landlord) so that we can build an accurate picture of our membership. It is not necessary to provide this type information in order to become a member or participate in the Oxford Renters Union.
Where a member shares with us information about their housing problems so that we can provide them with member support, we will store that information in accordance with this privacy notice and it will only be viewable by a very limited number of people.
Emails, text messages and phone calls
You can unsubscribe from any mailing list at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails or by emailing our data protection officer by writing to admin@oxfordrentersunion.org.
We occasionally also use phone calls and text messages to contact our members and supporters who have given their consent to be contacted in this way. If you do not wish to be contacted in this way, please email admin@oxfordrentersunion.org.
How we keep your data safe
Your data will be stored temporarily on our own servers, and then it will be stored in Airtable (Airtable privacy policy) longer term.
Only a very limited number of people have access to the information we store in our databases. We work hard to keep your data safe and secure. All third party software we use is GDPR compliant.
Payment
The payments are processed by Stripe (Stripe privacy policy). We do not and we will never store any data about your payments on our servers or on Airtable–everything related to this will be done via Stripe.
Your right to your data
You are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that we hold. Email your request to our data protection officer on admin@oxfordrentersunion.org
Cookies on our website
We will never collect any identifiable information for tracking purposes and we do not use cookies oursleves.
In addition, the software that this website is based on (WordPress) uses cookies which simply record if someone comes onto the site and their set language. No other information is used.
